SWBC Life CEO Joan Cleveland Named Life Insurers Council Board Chair

WINDSOR, Conn., Feb. 13, 2025 — At the 2025 LIC Annual Conference last week, the Life Insurers Council (LIC), part of LIMRA and LOMA, announced Joan Cleveland, president and chief executive officer of SWBC Life Insurance Company, will serve as chair of the LIC Advisory Board for 2025. She succeeds Tony Mravle, president and CEO, KSKJ Life, who will remain on the LIC Board as immediate past chair.
“We‘re excited to have Joan as our advisory board chair,” said Dean Lambert, LIC executive director. “Her vast leadership experience and knowledge of our unique association will be an asset to the membership as we continue looking for ways to enhance our value to our members.”
Dierdre Woodruff, senior vice president, Puritan Life, was named LIC vice chair and Bradford Phillips, CEO and chair, Liberty Bankers Insurance Group, assumed the role of LIC secretary.
LIC also named two new directors to serve three-year terms on the LIC Board:
- Kayte Fredrickson, president and CEO, Teachers Life
- Fernand LeBlanc, president, preplanning solutions at TruStage Life of Canada
Continuing LIC Board members are:
- Byron F. Allen, president and CEO, American Savings Life Insurance Company
- Chris Campbell, CEO and chair, BetterLife
- Joseph Evanish, national president and CEO, Slovene National Benefit Society
- Moshe Lichtenstein, chief investment officer, Converge US
- Rear Adm. Brian E. Luther, USN (Ret.), president and CEO, Navy Mutual Aid Association
- Greg Temple, president and CEO, Catholic Order of Foresters
