OurHistory

SWBC President, Gary Dudley, and Chairman, Charlie Amato, met in elementary school in the small East Texas town of La Porte. A series of family moves caused them to lose contact, but they were later reunited by way of Sam Houston State University. Immediate post-graduate career paths diverged, but by the mid-seventies, both men were working for the same company, selling credit life insurance. Successful, entrepreneurial, and possessive of extraordinary amounts of integrity, they quickly conspired to venture out on their own.

On April 1, 1976, SWBC was co-founded by Amato and Dudley on the principles of providing excellent customer service and putting clients and their needs first—without ever compromising service, ever.

Today, SWBC is an international financial services company, providing products and services to help businesses, families, and financial institutions meet some of their most critical goals. Our vision is to be the recognized leader and most trusted business partner in the financial services industry.

2014

SWBC Lending Solutions formed.

1976
On April 1, Charlie and Gary form Central Financial Insurance Services (CFIS), with its headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
1991

SWBC Investment Services, LLC was formed.

1988
On June 14, SWBC Mortgage Corporation is formed.
1978

SWBC Loan Risk Management System was formed.

2013

SWBC Risk Solutions formed.

2007

SWBC expands insurance business to Bermuda.

1980
Employees Life Insurance (now SWBC Life Insurance Company) is formed in a partnership with Government Employees Credit Union (now Credit Human).
1977
On May 11, Southwest Business Corporation was formed.
2010

SWBC purchased Brumley Professional Employer Services to establish PEO division.

1987

Mortgage & Bank Insurance division is formed (now part of The Financial Institution Group).

1982
The headquarters for Southwest Business Corporation is relocated to San Antonio, Texas.
2012

SWBC acquired Adams & Polunsky and formed SWBC Ad Valorem Tax Advisors.

1984
SWBC Insurance Services is formed. SWBC expands into the employee benefits business.

2008

SWBC purchased the SWBC Tower for its headquarters location. SWBC Insurance Partners was formed. SWBC Real Estate Company formed.

2022

SWBC Launches Fintech Company SWIVEL™, Focused on Frictionless, Integrated Transaction Enablement
