SWBC In Action
At SWBC, we believe in giving back to people and communities in which we live and work. Since our inception in 1976, SWBC has been a leader in community involvement and growth. In addition to sponsoring hundreds of sporting and leadership events, SWBC has been instrumental in developing Credit Unions for Kids.
Credit Unions For Kids

Credit Unions For Kids is a grass-roots program comprised of credit unions that raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. “From my experience with credit unions, I knew they would step up to help the Children’s Miracle Network. When I first approached the credit unions, they were the first to ask what they could do for the children. Their response was amazing,” said Charlie Amato, chairman of Southwest Business Corporation (SWBC). Today, Children's Miracle Network's Credit Unions for Kids program is endorsed by nearly all 50 state credit union leagues and is the charity of choice for America's credit union movement. In 2001, nearly half of America's credit unions raised $5,900,000. Every penny of this record-breaking total stayed in the local areas where it was raised. The success of this nationally-recognized credit union charity led to Mr. Amato’s involvement on the board of The Children’s Miracle Network, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and holds the positions of treasurer and finance committee chairman.
Junior Achievement
SWBC is also a partner in Junior Achievement and many of its events including the annual Bowl-A Thon and Shadow day. With 18 teams participating in the 2003 Bowl-A-Thon, SWBC helped raise thousands of dollars to educate San Antonio students and build a stronger future.
